Description

Member of Fort Worth's first block group to pool their efforts for a neighborhood cleanup in the citywide drive are shown as they started cleaning up their alley at the 2600 block NW 26th Street. They met together about sundown and worked for several hours. Left to right, they are L. D. McReary, A. A. Bellah, C. D. Trent, W. E. Stegell, H. E. Ferrell and W. A. Blessing. The two youngsters are Jack Edward Ferrell and Richard Leavell, who served as water boys for the neighborhood crew. The group are shown with tools in hand and remaining tall grass in the alley. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, July 27, 1945.
