Description
Lieutenant Zachary A. Booth Junior of Temple has been awarded the Legion of Merit. His portrait photograph is shown here. A copy of the citation received by his parents mentions his tireless efforts and endless training of his battery crews in gunnery contributed toward keeping his ship, an escort carrier in operation at a crucial time. Booth's gunners coolly and calmly remained at their stations, firing and servicing their guns in the face of gravest danger. Booth entered the Navy in 1942 and has served in all theaters. His parents, his wife, the former Catherine McCarty, and child all live in Fort Worth. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 1, 1945.
