Description
Veterans of the 44th Division had a brief stopover in Fort Worth, Texas. They are shown stepping out of the train. Mrs. Lloyd Smith, far right, is receiving a European Theater of Operations (E. T. O.) diary from Private First Class Jimmy Smith, who brought the diary to her from her son, Sergeant Charles L. Smith. Private Smith also brought two sealed envelopes from Sergeant Smith, who transferred to another division and stayed overseas. He will deliver them to Mrs. Smith after unpacking at Fort Sam Houston and returning to Fort Worth to visit his sister, Mrs. George Griffin. Looking on at the presentation, bottom to top step, are Private First Class Marvin Laseter, Private First Class Dick Patric, Corporal T. H. Dillard, Sergeant James Winn, Private First Class I. Salis, and Private First Class F. B. Clooney. The servicemen are wearing their uniforms. Mrs. Lloyd Smith is wearing a dress, necklace and a hat.
