Description
Major Joseph H. Ray, bomber pilot who has completed 48 missions in Europe without losing a man, plane or motor. Major Ray began his service with the 8th Air Force flying a B-24, but later shifted to a B-17. Both of his ships were named "Holy Joe" and were leading bombers in Major Ray's various missions. Major Ray earned the Distinguished Flying Cross (D. F. C), the Air Medal, and four stars on his European Theater of Operations (E. T. O.) ribbon. Both Major Ray and his father, Joseph Hugh Ray, are visiting Mrs. Travis White. Major Ray is standing against a wall, wearing his military uniform.
