Description
Major (Maj.) John E. (Speedy) Maersch is pictured here. He is shown dressed in uniform, standing against a bare wall, facing toward right and smiling for the camera. He entered the service in August 1942 and served 25 months overseas with the 348th Fighter Group of the 5th Air Force as group communications officer. He wears three bronze battle stars on his Pacific theater ribbon -- New Guinea, Southern Philippines and Luzon. He also wears the Philippines Liberation ribbon with one bronze battle star. He is now on a terminal leave from the Army Air Forces and is spending time with his wife. After the leave Major (Maj.) Maersch will take over his old job as assistant technical advisor for two Stations. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, July 8, 1945.
