    Description

    Lieutenant Colonel W. R. Washburn Junior, veteran of 30 months service with the Troop Carrier Command, visited in Fort Worth recently with his wife and daughter, Terry. He is newly-appointed commander of the 316th Troop Carrier Group. Washburn wears nine battle stars. For extraordinary performance as group leader on D-Day he won the Distinguished Flying Cross and later was awarded the Croix de Guerre with Red Star. Washburn, son of Dr. W. R. Washburn of Cleburne, is a veteran of five years in service. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, July 29, 1945.
