    Description

    Charles Barker, aviation ordnance man second class, who was stationed on the USS Bunker Hill when it was hit May 11 by two bombs and two kamikaze planes, is back home. He is spending a 30-day leave with his mother, Mrs. Lola Barker. At the time the bomb struck, Barker was on the third deck and escaped injury. Barker spent 26 months of sea duty on the Bunker Hill and has participated in almost every major battle in the Pacific since November 11, 1943. He wears the green commendation bar issued to the members of the 3rd Fleet for outstanding performance. He is standing against a wall, wearing his uniform.
