    Staff Sergeant Ernest Arnold, of the 2nd Marine Division, was on a 24-hour leave from Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. He has served 27 months in the South Pacific area, having seen action on Guadalcanal, Saipan and Tinian. He has received the presidential citation and the Purple Heart. He is shown at his father's house, W. W. Arnold. He is sitting on a couch, wearing his military uniform. He is holding a portrait photograph of an unidentified man in a military uniform. There is a mirror hanging on the wall behind him.
