    Description

Sergeant William E. Noel, who was captured by German civilians when he was forced to bail out of a damaged plane, returned to Fort Worth, Texas, recently to spend a 60-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Noel. The B-17 engineer-gunner, veteran of five-and-a-half years in service, was flying on his fourth mission from an English base when he was shot down over Cologne, Germany. He had joined the 8th Air Force a month before. He is shown standing against a wall, wearing his military uniform.
