Description

Mrs. Georgia M. Saastad recently received word from the War Department that her husband, Lieutenant Harold Lief Saastad, Marine flier, is missing in action in the Pacific. Lieutenant Saastad entered the service in 1942, and was commissioned in September of 1943. He has been overseas since January with the 2nd Marine Air Wing. A graduate of the University of Idaho, Saastad was employed by the Soil Conservation Service in Oregon before entering the service. A copy the lieutenant's official military portrait is shown. He is wearing an aviator cap and goggles. The photograph is signed, "with love forever, Hal."
