Description
Disease-wracked and emaciated after three years in a Japanese prison camp in Luzon, Philippines, Corporal James E. Newman, 25, lies in his own bed at home for the first time in seven years. "Written off" by doctors from the Pacific to the United States, he is bent on getting well if good care and sheer determination can pull him through. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, July 3, 1945.
