Description

Private First Class (Pfc.) Joe Cohen, 38, veteran of 22 months in Pacific as an antiaircraftsman attached to the 6th Army, is pictured here. He is shown standing against a bare wall, facing front and smiling for the camera. He is dressed in uniform. He wears the Philippine Liberation ribbon and a star, the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon and two battle stars and the Good Conduct Ribbon. He fought hand-to-hand with the Japanese a week before Manila was officially cleared. Private Cohen, is the son of Mrs. A. J. Cohen. He is home for a 45-day rest before reporting to Fort Sam HOuston August 15 for reassignment. He was graduated from Paschal High School and attended Texas Christian University (TCU) three years where he played baseball. He is a former employee of The Fair Store and Monnig's.
