Description
D.H. Griffith helped in the rescue work when a 1941 green sedan collided with a switch engine at the Kellis Street crossing. K. K. Maxwell arrived on the scene with Mr. Griffith to help free the trapped couple. The men used a hack-saw to cut the rods holding the windshield. They brought acetylene torch equipment but were unable to use it because of leaking gasoline. It took almost two hours to free the driver Van Earl Brown and Miss Sammie White's body. Mr. Griffith is wearing a button-up shirt tucked into trousers. He is standing in front of a wall and a hanging picture.
