Description
K. K. Maxwell helped in the rescue work when a 1941 green sedan collided with a switch engine at the Kellis Street crossing. Mr. Maxwell from Texasteel Manufacturing Company arrived on the scene along with D. H. Griffith to help free the trapped couple. The men used a hack-saw to cut the rods holding the windshield. They brought acetylene torch equipment but were unable to use it because of leaking gasoline. It took almost two hours to free the driver Van Earl Brown and Miss Sammie White's body. Mr. Maxwell is standing against a door with his arms behind his back. He is wearing a striped dress shirt and trousers.
