    Description

    First Methodist Church became debt free Friday afternoon. Officials are shown paying off the last of the church's debt. Participating in the debt paying ceremony, left to right, are W. Steve Cooke, J. B. Baker, and Reverend Warren Johnston. Mr. Cooke, chairman of the Masonic Home and School Endowment Fund which held the $210,000 mortgage. He is dressed in a dark suit. Mr. Baker is chairman of the church trustees. He is wearing a light-colored suit. Reverend Johnston is the pastor of the church. He is dressed in a double breasted suit. M. Baker is shown handing the final payment to Mr. Cooke.
