Description
First Methodist Church became debt free Friday afternoon. Officials are shown paying off the last of the church's debt. Participating in the debt paying ceremony, left to right, seated are R. E. Cox, Ned Lydick, W. Steve Cooke, and Reverend Warren Johnston. Standing, are J. Marvin Leonard, Clyde A. Penry, T. R. James, V. M. Monticue, O. C. Armstrong and J. B. Baker. Mr. Baker, chairman of the church trustees, is handing the final payment to Mr. Cooke, chairman of the Masonic Home and School Endowment Fund which held the $210,000 mortgage. All the men are dressed in suits.
