    The first of the mattress making projects being sponsored by the Tarrant County Home Demonstration Club Council at Azle, Texas. Shown here are Mrs. D. E. Lavender, right, and William Holmes, 10, son of Mrs. Laura Holmes, spreading the cotton evenly in a finished mattress ticking. Mrs. Lavender is wearing a blouse and skirt of matching material and eyeglasses. She has a bracelet on her left wrist and a ring on her ring finger on her right hand. William is wearing a cap and striped overalls over a striped collared shirt. Mrs. Lavender is a member of the Azle Home Demonstration Club. Application to make mattresses for themselves can be made by any farm family having an annual income of less than $400. West Texas cotton for filler and ticking is furnished by the Government. The only cost to the applicants is 35 cents for thread and needles.
