Description
After 22 months of combat in the south Pacific Fort Worth looks pretty good to Private First Class Porter Rice who is visiting his aunt and uncle, Mayor and Mrs. Roscoe L. Carnrike. Pfc. Rice is a former resident here and graduate of Paschal High School. He was injured when a gun exploded on a boat which was transferring a group of men to shore during a landing in the Admiralties. He received the Purple Heart medal; he is a veteran of 5 years of service.
