Mother's Day was happy one for soldier's mother. Sunday was a happy Mother's Day for Mrs. May Dunlap, since she was secure in the knowledge that her son. Corporal Connie D. Nolan, is safe in the field hospital at Fort Sam Houston after two years and four months spent in a Japanese prison camp. Nolan, 26, stationed with the medical corps on Corregidor, was captured in May 1942 and was liberated in February this year. He arrived in San Francisco March 16 weighing only 80 pounds, instead of his usual 145. He was stationed at Letterman General Hospital in California for a time,, and then spent several days with his mother the last of April before reporting to Fort Sam Houston. Nolan holds the Purple Heart, A Presidential Unit Citation and four battle stars. He has been in service since September 1941. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram Morning Edition May 16, 1945.
