    Description

    Canyon Airman Reported Killed -- First Lieutenant Donald Hawkins, navigator on a Flying Fortress of the 463rd Bombardment Group in Italy, was killed in action April 15. He had been awarded the Air Medal. His widow the former Elda Gordon, and their son, 3-month-old George Wayne Hawkins, live in Canyon. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Hawkins, reside in Panhandle. Lieutenant Hawkins is shown here in his military uniform, holding a paper and smiling. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, May 12, 1945.
