Description

Glen Putman, 64, left of Altus, Oklahoma, and Emiline (Emeline) Gardenhire, 73, of Fort Worth, Texas, are pictured here. Both men are dressed in suits and ties and cowboy hats. Early days of trail driving and roundups, long before rodeos became 'big-time' entertainment, were recalled by Glen Putman, and Emiline (Emeline) Gardenhire. Putman is wagon boss of the old Greer County Cowboys Association and a director of the Texas Cowboy Reunion Association at Stamford. Gardenhire won first prize of $50 in gold for riding and roping at a rodeo here in 1896. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, March 16, 1945.
