Description

This is a copy of a framed portrait of Private First Class (Pfc.) Vernon K. Carter, 23. He is wearing uniform and smiling for the camera. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Carter. His parents were notified that their son was seriously wounded in action in Germany February 25, the same day his younger brother, Technical Sergeant (Tech. Sgt.) Truman W. Carter, crew chief attached to a 6th Ferrying Group was lost on a B-17 during a flight between Cheyenne Wyoming and Memphis Tennessee. Private Carter's wife, Mrs. Lois Carter and baby son, Ronnie, reside in Grand Prairie, Texas. Private Carter graduated from Bryson High School and former student of North Texas State Technical College (NTSTC) at Denton. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, March 11, 1945.
