    Ira Val McCauley, 17-year-old, Denton, Texas is pictured here. He is wearing a trouser and full sleeved shirt, seated and smiling for the camera. Ira, who flew the first paratrooper plane to Sicily in the Allied invasion, has joined the Navy. He is awaiting orders to report for duty after having been sworn into service three days after his 17th birthday. He is the son of Mrs. J. H. McCauley of Denton, Texas and late Reverend (Rev.) Jerome H. McCauley and brother of Colonel (Col.) Jerome B. McCauley, Army Air Field. Ira is a former student at Denton High School and has been employed at Convair. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, March 18, 1945.
