Description
Navy Machinist's Mate First Class W. Scott Cook is home on leave visiting his mother, Mrs. Margaret Cook, a nurse at the Lena Pope Home. Cook is one of 200 boys from the Home in the Armed Forces. He has served in the South Pacific on an ARD-5 (Auxilliary Repair Dock) repairing damaged ships and ship machinery. He is a graduate of Arlington Heights High School and was employed by Glenn Brothers furniture before joining the Navy in December 1941. Cook is shown wearing uniform standing by a blank wall and smiling. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, March 4, 1945.
