George N. McKnight, boatswain's mate second class is pictured here. He is shown standing against a bare wall, facing front and smiling for the camera. He is dressed in Navy uniform. He has been almost three years sea duty with a naval armed guard crew aboard a merchant ship and of nine crossings of the Atlantic. He faced dangers both of the sea and enemy action. He served on an ammunition ship, made trips to Egypt, Russia, Glasgow, Southampton and Cherbourg, Swansea, South Wales, and Puerto Rico. One of his most interesting trips was to Egypt. McKnight entered service 11 days after the Pearl Harbor attack in December, 1941. He is a graduate of North Side High School. He is back in Fort Worth on a 24-day leave and visiting his family members, sister, Miss Ida McKnight; grandmother, Mrs. Martha McKnight; and aunt, Miss Ida Morgan.
