    Employees of the Firestone Tire Cord Plant are reading an official telegram from Lieutenant General Brehon Somervell of Washington D. C. The telegram puts the plant on a seven-day work schedule. Pictured left to right are S. B. Stone, Mrs. Maudie Goyne, Ellis Arnold, and R. M. Sawyer. Mr. Stone is a representative sent from Washington D. C. to carry out the program. He is wearing a side cap, button-up shirt, necktie, and trousers. Mrs. Goyne is a plant employee and the mother of four servicemen. She is wearing a dress with a floral pattern. Mr. Arnold is a Guadalcanal veteran. He is dressed in a hat, button-up shirt, and trousers. Mr. Sawyer is the plant manager. He is wearing a three-piece suit.
