Description
The trial for the Branson Kidnapping Case will begin Monday, February 19, 1945 in Fort Worth, Texas. Mrs. Melba Branson, eighteen, is being charged in the kidnapping of infant Milly McGill. At the time of the kidnapping, the baby's parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. McGill were going through divorce proceedings. Mrs. McGill wanted custody of the child to go to Lieutenant and Mrs. Branson, but Mr. McGill contested and reported Mrs. Branson for kidnapping the infant. Prior to the trial, Mrs. McGill brought Milly to visit the Branson home. Mrs. Branson and her husband, Lieutenant C. E. Branson are shown hanging baby clothes and diapers on the line. Mrs. Branson is wearing a housecoat. Lieutenant Branson, of the Army Air Force, is dressed in his military uniform. On February 22, a jury found Mrs. Branson "Not Guilty" on the charge of kidnapping.
