Description

Staff Sergeant (Sgt.) Joseph V. Snyder is a member of the 15th Army Air Forces (AAF). He was wounded in Italy on September 10, 1944 where he lost his left hand. He spent four days in a partly bombed out building while a friend went for help. Sergeant (Sgt.) Snyder spent recovery time in Bushnell General Hospital in Utah and a forty-five day furlough with family in Texas. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Snyder of Jacksboro, Texas. He wears a Purple Heart for the wounds he suffered in battle. He is a graduate of North Side High School and a former employee of Texas & Pacific Railway Company. Sergeant (Sgt.) Snyder plans to continue serving with the Army Air Forces (AAF) after the war. He is shown standing against a wall, dressed in his military uniform.
