Residents of Fort Worth, Texas, and the surrounding area are happily reading the morning edition of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The headline tells the story that 513 were rescued by the United States Army Rangers from a Japanese prison camp on Luzon. Reading the newspaper, left to right, are Mrs. J. O. Murphree, Mrs. T. F. Boyle, Mrs. H. F. Brawner, and J. O. Murphree. They are reading the names of the rescued prisoners, including Mrs. Boyle's son, Private (Pvt.) James A. Boyle. The three women are dressed in winter coats. Mr. Murphree is wearing a collared shirt, necktie, sweater, and trousers. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, February 2, 1945.
