Description
The Golden Gloves District Tournament is being held in Fort Worth, Texas at the Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum. Squaring off Monday night in the semifinals of the novice middleweight class, left to right are Melvin Steakley and Sergeant Joe Stetka. Steakley, of Texas Christian University (T. C. U.), is warding off an attempt from his opponent and connecting with a left jab. Sergeant Stetka is with the Eagle Mountain Marines. Sergeant Stetka scored a three-round decision and went on to win the finals. The photograph was publishing in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in the morning of February 6, 1945.
