Staff Sergeant James M. Balch, marine in the 2nd Division is back after 28 months in the South Pacific on his mother's birthday. On Sunday, he celebrates his own birthday at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Latimer of 1518 May, where a family reunion will be held. He holds two presidential citation ribbons for participation in battles on Guadalcanal and Tarawa. His mother, Mrs. J. M. Balch of Coleman will attend her son's birthday celebration.
