    Description

    A Fort Worth marine who went overseas a few days before his 19th birthday has returned home after serving two and a half years that included fighting in four of the fiercest battles of the Pacific war. Pfc. William J. Campbell, 21, a member of the 2nd Marine Division, served in the campaigns of Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian and was injured only once. He won the Purple Heart Medal, he enlisted in 1942. In the picture he appears to be wearing his uniform and is standing in front of a wall.
