Description
Lieutenant Colonel Thomas I. Ramsey, 29, Marauder bomber, his mother, Mrs. J.M.G. Ramsey, and his father, Reverend Ramsey A tall young man in uniform on the left stands next to a woman with a plate of cake and an older tall man in a double-breasted suit. They are in a house with a darkened room behind them on the left, and behind on the right a small wicker table with framed portraits and a painting on the wall. A curtained window and the edge of a fireplace and mantle are on the right. The window has a pull-down rolled shade, a lacy curtain, and a light background printed drapery over the top. Col. Ramsey is wearing what appears to be a khaki uniform, with a light colored solid tie and a pin on his collar. He is holding a piece of cake. His ecstatic mother is holding a plate of cake and wearing a flower printed dress with a white eyelet collar and tied sash, and is also wearing wire rim glasses and a wristwatch. Rev. Ramsey has a light shirt and diagonal striped tie with his suit and a fob of some sort in his collar button hole. He also is wearing wire rim glasses. Clipping: "Worth coming home for, was the hearty verdict Wedensday of T. Col. Thomas I. Ramsey, 29, Marauder bomber squadron commander on 70 combat missions over Europe, as he sampled a devil's food cake his mother had baked. From left, Colonel Ramsey, his mother and father, Rev. J. G. M. Ramsey." Stamped Star-Telegram Morn Sep 28, 1944.
