Description

Lieutenant Colonel Weldon M. James, assistant chief of staff of 6th United States Army Air Forces in Panama. He is on a 10-day leave visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. James. Colonel James is a veteran of 11 years service with the Air Forces. He received his flying training in 1933 and 1934 at Randolph and Kelly Fields. He then served with a tactical organization at March Field for four years and as an instructor in primary and basic training at Randolph for three years. During the expansion of the Air Forces program in 1941, he served with the Southeastern training center and was supervisor to civil elementary flying training schools. He subsequently was assigned as director of training at the basic school in Greenwood. He is a graduate of Paschal High School and attended Baylor University and Texas Christian University. He is accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Doris Rae James, and two-year-old daughter, Charlotte Gay. This is a half-length portrait of him showed he is wearing his military uniform.
