Description
First Lieutenant John William Riley, a cavalryman with the 1st Army in Germany, has been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in action. He was also awarded the Bronze Star Medal for outstanding service against the enemy in Normandy. Lieutenant Riley is known around Fort Worth, Texas, for his athletic abilities. Before entering the service, he was signed by the Houston Buffs before being farmed out by the Cardinals to the Evangeline League. His wife, the former Miss Jonell Orts, and his son are residing in Cameron, Texas. He is pictured in his military uniform.
