Description
First Lieutenant Eugene C. Camp, 24, anti-aircraft artillery officer, who was sent to Hawaii six weeks after enlisting in the Army, September 1940, and since has served there and in the Southwest Pacific, has arrived after 45 months of overseas service. He wears the American Defense ribbon with one star for Pear Harbor and the Asiatic-Pacific theater ribbon with two battle stars, as well as the Bronze Star ribbon for his part in a dangerous and unusual artillery maneuver. He was with the group on Bougainville that peppered Japanese pillboxes with 90-mm. guns at rifle range. Camp was born in Fort Worth and graduated from Paschal High School. He is visiting his father, Walter Camp Junior. He wears his military uniform in this half length portrait. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 25, 1944.
