Description
Veteran of Guadalcanal Is Studying for Ministry -- Chief Gunner's Mate Robert B. Gammage, who fought the Japanese in the air off Guadalcanal. He was injured from 14 Japanese machine gun bullet wounds. He was taken to 3 hospitals for treatment. During that period from September, 1942, to August of last year he made up his mind to change his civilian life work to the ministry. He is shown standing against a bare wall, facing front and wearing a suit and tie. He has the Purple Heart and Silver Star as well as American and Southwest Pacific campaign ribbons. He is studying for ministry at the Fundamental Baptist Bible Institute. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, September 8, 1944.
