Description
Captain William W. Brown Junior of Dallas, Texas, surgeon with Baylor Hospital Unit in Italy, holds two of the awards given to that courageous medical group which carried on under fire at Anzio for two and a half months, and then forged northward with the 5th army of Rome. Brown received the Bronze Star citation for heroic achievement in action on February 12, performing operation after another under enemy attack. The Purple Heart was awarded for wounds received March 22 during another bombardment. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Brown. His wife is the former Miss Mary Blaylock and his young daughter is Betty Ann. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, September 6, 1944.
