Private First Class Everett N. Reed, of Highlands, Texas, is a Browning automatic rifleman, with the 2nd Division in France. He has been awarded the Purple Heart for wounds and the Silver Star for gallantry in action June 16. Private Reed drew enemy fire to cover the withdrawal of his squad when they were ambushed by German snipers. He is recovering in a hospital in England. Private Reed is pictured in his military uniform.
