    Description

    Major Jack W. Slaton, who has five years with Delta Air Lines and more than two years as a United States Army Air Forces (AAF) pilot, is in Fort Worth, Texas to work with the Office of Flying Safety. He is shown standing, smiling, wearing his military uniform. With Delta Airlines, he flew the route Atlanta, Georgia to Fort Worth, Texas from 1937 to 1942. With his overseas duty he totaled 1,442 flying hours in the cockpit of a C-47 cargo plane. He flew the Himalayan Hump, North Africa and China. As pilot of the heavily loaded and unarmed transports, he faced dangers both of bad weather and enemy attack backed up only with skillful maneuvering a lots of luck. Among his many decorations he received is the Air Medal. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 20, 1944.
