Description
Wearing the "Gates of Hell" shoulder patch of the Panama Canal Department, Technician Fifth Class Roy Lowry is spending a 33-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff R. Lowry, 1310 Harris. In the Army for three and a half years, young Lowry has been in the Panama Canal Zone for two and a half years. He is shown standing against a bare wall and smiling for the camera. He is wearing uniform. His principal job is to nickel-plate parts of machines, such as typewriters, to protect them against rust and corrosion from the damp climate.
