Description
Doctor L. R. Elliott, librarian, shown with books donated to the Baptist Seminary by the late Doctor George W. Truett. Dr. Turett served as pastor at the First Baptist Church of Dallas from 1897 to his death in 1944. He bequeathed 3,600 religious books to the library including the Bible he used in the early days of his ministry. Dr. Elliot is standing next the massive stack of books, holding Dr. Truett's Bible open to a passage in the book of John. Dr. Elliot is dressed in a seersucker suit. Published Star-Telegram Morn. Aug. 8, 1944.
