Texas Angora Goat Raisers Association champion C type doe shown by Claude Haby of Hunt, Texas. The goat has a ribbon pinned to her back. She was sold to Shannon Morril of Pelly, Texas for $135. Mr. Haby is kneeling behind his prize-winner. He is wearing a straw stetson hat, a plaid shirt, and trousers. There are spectators in the barn behind him.From the clipping:"These Angora goats and others like them bring Texas each year around $10,000,000 which is about 85 percent of the total United States income from mohair. About 3,500,000 Angoras are clipped each year in Texas and the yield is a little less than five pounds each, selling for 50 to 65 cents a pound. Most of the Angoras are on Edwards Plateau ranches." Published Star-Telegram Morn. Aug. 9, 1944.
