Description
Corporal Sam Bass, described as a "sniper-shooting Texan" in a dispatch from an advanced company command post on the Orote Peninsula on Guam, was revealed as the brother of Raymond Bass and the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Bass of Quitaque. Bass' full name is Carmon Sam Bass. He was a class leader at his graduation from Quitaque High School three years ago at the age of 18, was a football player and engaged in other sports. He entered the Marines shortly after graduation. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition, August 1, 1944.
