Memorial services were held at the Methodist Church here recently for First Lieutenant Billy B. Hollingshead, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hollingshead of Baird, who was killed in action in New Guinea June 29. Pilot of an A-20 light bomber, he had completed 50 combat missions and had been awarded the Air Medal and held a Purple Heart for wounds received in action. His two brothers are in service, Olaf, a pharmacist's mate in the Navy, and Fayne, a private at Camp Barkley. They are grandsons of Mrs. W. R. Gilbreth of Baird. Hollingshead wears his uniform in the portrait photograph. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, August 2, 1944.
