Arlington Flying Captain Was in Invasion Armada -- Participation in the gigantic D-Day air armada and in eight raids over Berlin are counted by Captain (Capt.) Ed C. King, Junior (Jr.) of Fort Worth and Arlington. He arrived here on a 30-day rotation leave to visit his wife, the former Miss Rebecca Goodwin, and baby son, Ed C. third (III), who will celebrate his first birthday on August 10. They have been living with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. V. H. Goodwin, in Arlington. His mother is Mrs. Annie King and his father is in the ice business. Captain King is a graduate of Arlington High School and former student of North Texas Agricultural College (NTAC). He received his wings at Hondo Navigation School on July 15, 1943. He is shown standing against a bare wall and in uniform. The 26-year-old airman holds the decorations as a proof of his ability are, including the DFC, the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the European theater ribbon with two stars and the Presidential unit citation. The later was awarded for a raid made by his group over Regensburg, Germany. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, July 23, 1944.
