    Description

    Sergeant Roger W. Payne is a 21-year-old soldier in the United States Marine Corps. He is returning home on a 30-day furlough after serving 17 months in the Southwest Pacific. He is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Payne, of Arlington, Texas. Sergeant Payne enlisted in the Marines on January 3, 1942. He holds a Presidential Citation, individual unit. Along with the medals, he wears a rifle and pistol sharpshooter medal and bayonet medals. He is a graduate of Arlington Heights High School. Sergeant Payne is shown standing against a wall, dressed in his military uniform.
