Description
This is a copy of Corporal Charles D. Sparks, Hillsboro, Texas portrait wearing his military uniform. He is under the Army rotation plan, for a visit with his wife, the former Miss Estell Sawyers, and his daughter, Charlene, Sparks, was wearing the Purple Heart ribbon for wounds received in action in Tunisia April 26, 1943. He was hit in the leg, rejoined his outfit in Sicily, then moved on to Italy last November 23 and was in command of an armored care there. His mother, Mrs. C. H. Sparks, lives in Shreveport. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, June 10, 1944.
