Lieutenant Raymond A. Ermis, missing in action. A telegram from the War Department notified Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Ermis that Lieutenant Ermis, 22, a P-47 pilot, has been missing in action over Italy since May 17. He had made more than 80 missions and wore the Air medal with cluster. Another son, Private Edwin L. Ermis, 19, is serving with the Allied landing forces in France. The portrait photograph shows Ermis in his flying attire with headgear and eye protection. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, June 7, 1944.
