Mrs. K. B. Brooks, 2325 E. Vickery hosted the reunion of two war veterans in her home, namely her son-in-law Master Technical Sergeant Robert McKay (left), and her brother Master Sergeant James Winter (right). McKay served at New Caledonia, Guadalcanal and Munda. He served with a Marine aircraft group in the South Pacific for 17 months. He wears two stars on his campaign ribbons and the presidential unit citation. He married the former Margaret Brooks. Winters has 25 years of service and just returned from 25 months with the 10th Air Force in India. He enlisted at the age of 18 and has served three times in the Pacific theater, in Honolulu , Manila, Australia and India. The men are in their uniform, standing next to each other. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, June 15, 1944.
